Scientific career
At the University of Vienna, more men than women pursue academic careers. Compared to the student population, the proportion of women decreases as they progress through the career path to professorship. The proportion of women in appointments to a professorship and habilitations fluctuates over the years but is usually well below 50 %. In contrast, tenure track appointments in recent years have been consistently gender-balanced.
