Intellectual capital report figures

The university publishes gender-related key figures in its annual intellectual capital report. The legally prescribed gender parity in collegial bodies has been largely implemented at the University of Vienna. In 2025, the gender pay gap among professors showed balanced income levels in some groups, while in the large group of professorships according to § 98 of the University Act (UG), the gender pay gap was around 10%. The highest gender pay gap was found among professorships according to § 99/1 UG. The proportion of women in the appointment process was consistently above 40% in 2025, with the proportion of women in appointments unusually high at 71%. At the same time, the proportion of female applicants also exceeded 40% for the first time, indicating that many professorships were awarded in the humanities and social sciences.
